The FBI can secretly activate a computer’s webcam to spy on an individual without turning on the indicator light, a former official revealed to the Washington Post in an article published Friday.
According to the Washington Post’s account of what Marcus Thomas — former assistant director of the FBI’s Operational Technology Division in Quantico — said, “The FBI has been able to covertly activate a computer’s camera — without triggering the light that lets users know it is recording — for several years, and has used that technique mainly in terrorism cases or the most serious criminal investigations.”

“Because of encryption and because targets are increasingly using mobile devices, law enforcement is realizing that more and more they’re going to have to be on the device — or in the cloud,” Thomas added, in reference to remote storage services. “There’s the realization out there that they’re going to have to use these types of tools more and more.”

Well, isn’t that special? Now that the Obamacare website has been “fixed” (more on that travesty in a moment), the Administration of President Barack Obama has announced it will ramp up efforts to build support for its takeover of the American healthcare system. I can hardly wait.
The New York Times reported the Administration is preparing “a daily barrage of more positive messages about the health care law during the next several weeks — some to be delivered by Mr. Obama personally.” And it quoted one anonymous official as promising: “Every day, there will be something coming out of the White House.”
The new propaganda effort kicked off two days ago, with a speech by the President to a White House Youth Summit meeting. Interestingly enough, that was the same day a new poll was released, showing that the President and his signature healthcare measure have become strikingly unpopular with a group that used to be his most fervid supporters: the so-called millennials.

New data from the Federal Reservecontinues to highlight a reemergence of debt based consumer spending. Americans are largely buying stuff they can’t afford with money they don’t have. The Fed’s consumer credit report highlights a troubling trend. Over the last 12 months 95 percent of all consumer debt growth has come from people buying cars and young Americans going deep into debt to pursue a college education. A car quickly loses its value once it drives off the lot and many college degrees are massively over valued only being supported by easy financing. This is a disturbing trend, even more troubling than the last debt fueled bubble. One can argue with housing that at least people are getting an asset that generally rises with inflation. But a car? A for-profit degree? The debt juice is now flowing once again.
Buying cars while incomes drop
If we look at incomes and car sales we find that households are simply purchasing cars by borrowing from the future:
The Fed consumer credit report merely confirms what we suspect. The dramatic jump in auto buying isn’t coming because households are suddenly wealthier but because consumer debt is booming once again. Cars are not “good” assets and unfortunately, many Americans need to grow their net worth but adding a depreciating vehicle on your balance sheet isn’t exactly a smart plan.
The consumer credit report shows that 95 percent of consumer debt growth in the last 12 months has come in the form of auto loans and student debt:

When you factor in the reality that student debt is now the largest debt market outside of mortgage debt, you realize that many young Americans are saddling their lives in the red even before they begin their working careers.

So we are now having another expansion completely based on easy access to debt. For banks, this access never went away in the form of cheap money via the Fed. The Fed’s balance sheet is now quickly approaching $4 trillion. We are told that there is no inflation but real estate values are spiking at a rate last seen during the last bubble but household incomes are not going up. Of course this time the price of real estate is being pushed up byWall Street investors. At least in the last bubble, most Americans had access to mortgages, credit cards, and all other forms of cheap debt to party with Wall Street. Today, it seems like consumers have the option of auto loans or student debt. Good luck trying to buy a home in some of the hot markets where big money is battling it out over what little inventory is available. Credit card rates are still very high even though banks have access to record low rates courtesy of Fed monetary policy. The same policy that is pushing home prices up and keeping household incomes down. The circle of monetary life. Hakuna matata.
Of course the public by getting a little piece of the action suddenly is blinded by the scheme that is taking place. As long as some grease is hitting their hands things are okay. Just wait until this debt fueled bubble pops again. Don’t expect the top 10 percent to bail you out (it’ll be the other way around yet again). The message is, keep on buying those cars you can’t afford and keep going to college via massive student debt.

Pope Francis is misguided in his beliefs about the dangers of capitalism, and instead of commenting on economic issues he should focus exclusively on matters affecting faith and morality, says Andrew Napolitano.
In an op-ed piece for The Washington Times the former New Jersey Superior Court judge and senior judicial analyst for Fox News says the Pope is "wide of the mark" in his verdict that free-market capitalism undermines the social mobility of the poor as he suggested in his recent apostolic exhortation.
"No economic system in history has alleviated more poverty, generated more opportunity, and helped more formerly poor people become rich than capitalism," writes Napolitano, who is a traditionalist Roman Catholic.
"The essence of capitalism goes to the core of Catholic teaching: the personal freedom of every person. Capitalism is freedom to risk, freedom to work, freedom to save, freedom to retain the fruits of one's labors, freedom to own property and freedom to give to charity."
Napolitano says that, contrary to the Pope's view, free markets are too stifled by government control and regulation. He adds that arguments for the redistribution of wealth go against traditional Catholic social teachings that call on believers to "become our brothers' keepers" through personal charity.
"The Pope seems to prefer common ownership of the means of production, which is Marxist, or private ownership and government control, which is fascist, or government ownership and government control, which is socialist. All of those failed systems lead to ashes, not wealth," he writes.
"What shall we do about the Pope and economics? We should pray for his faith and understanding and for a return to orthodoxy. That means the Holy Mother Church under the Vicar of Christ — saving souls, not pocketbooks."

The 113th Congress includes some slight shifts in religious makeup over the previous session, with a few more Catholics, the first Buddhist in the Senate and the first Hindu to serve in either chamber.
It's a historic high for the number of Catholics in Congress, with 163, though that's just two more seats than the previous high point, when there were 161 Catholics in the 111th Congress of 2009-10.
That's an increase of seven seats over the 156 Catholics had in the 112th Congress.
Since at least the 1960s, Catholics have been the single largest denomination in Congress. Although when Protestant denominations are counted together, they still constitute the largest number of members, at 56 percent.
Another analysis finds that alumni of Jesuit colleges and universities account for almost 10 percent of all members of Congress.

The Obama administration is painting a much rosier picture of American jobs than the data supports, two researchers claim.
They have been touting their recent study showing that nearly every state has seen its private sector shrink under the Obama administration.
“Our findings show that for many states, the impact of the recession and slow recovery on the private sector has been more severe than the official economic data indicates,” Keith Hall, a senior fellow at the free-market Mercatus Center, told The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Hall and fellow researcher Robert Greene found that 41 states saw their private sectors shrink from 2007
to 2012. Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Idaho and Nevada have seen the largest contractions in their respective
private sectors — in 2012, Nevada’s has shrunk 13 percent below 2007 levels.

(CNSNews.com) - Federal, state and local governments hired a net additional 338,000 workers in November, equaling 41 percent of the total of 818,000 net additional jobs created in the United States during the month.
At the same time, the unemployment rate for government workers fell from 4.4 percent in October to 3.2 percent in November. (The overall national unemployment rate fell from 7.3 percent to 7.0 percent.)
In October, governments around the country employed 19,726,000 people, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In November, that rose to 20,064,000—a net increase of 338,000 people employed by government.
Overall, in October, 143,568,000 people in the United States had jobs, according to BLS. In November, that rose to 144,386,000—a net increase of 818,000 people employed.
The net increase of 338,000 people working for government equaled 41 percent of the overall net increase of 818,000 people working in the United States.
From October to November, the unemployment rate dropped from 7.3 percent to 7.0 percent. November was the 60th straight month that unemployment has been 7.0 percent or higher.
Despite the October-to-November increase in the number of people working for government in the United States, the 20,064,000 working for government this November was still fewer than the 20,598,000 who worked for the government in November 2012, according the BLS.

TEL AVIV – The reports of stepped-up activism to ensure non-Muslim prayer on the Temple Mount comes as the Obama administrations continues to quietly push a plan in which the Palestinian Authority and Jordan will receive sovereignty over the holy site.
On Tuesday, the Washington Post reported on what it described as a “small but growing movement by Jewish activists” demanding the right to pray on the mount.
Currently, all non-Muslims are barred from praying at the site. While Muslims can access the Temple Mount 24-hours a day, Jews and Christians may only ascend during certain hours, and not on any Christian, Jewish or Muslim holidays or other days considered “sensitive” by the Waqf, the Islamic custodians of the mount.
Jews and Christians who ascend the mount during the limited hours usually do so through organized tours and only if they conform to a strict set of guidelines, which include demands that they not pray or bring any “holy objects” to the site.
Visitors are banned from entering any of the mosques without direct Waqf permission. Rules are enforced by Waqf agents, who watch tours closely and alert nearby Israeli police to any breaking of their guidelines.

Conspiracy theorists have questioned Osama bin Laden’s death since the Abbottabad raid in 2011. Now, those skeptical of the military’s account of how bin Laden was killed have fuel to add to their conspiratorial fire.
That’s because the Pakistani doctor who helped the CIA find bin Laden and who confirmed bin Laden’s DNA after the raid has been arrested on murder charges. Dr. Shakil Afridi has been charged with killing a boy during a 2006 surgery to remove his appendix.
Pakistani police didn’t have to go far to arrest Afridi: he is already serving a 33 year prison sentence for “conspiring against the state,” a charge connected to his work on a CIA vaccination program meant to confirm bin Laden’s presence at the Abbottabad compound. Now, there’s a growing concern that the one man who could confirm that the man who died in Abbottabad was bin Laden might never see the light of day
The latest charge against Afridi is likely to deepen the diplomatic tension between the United States and Pakistan. The Americans, who view Afridi as a hero that helped to eliminate the most wanted man in American history, want him released. They say the charges are trumped up. The Pakistanis, furious over his work with the Americans, view him as a traitor who enabled an unsanctioned attack on Pakistani soil.
The United States has done its best to quash doubters of bin Laden’s death. But Afridi’s disappearance deep into the bowels of the Pakistani prison system is likely to embolden claims that Osama bin Laden’s death was one big hoax.

The New York City Police Department (NYPD) is sending out letters telling gun owners to turn over their rifles and shotguns — or else face the consequences.
New York City’s ban on rifles and shotguns that hold more than five rounds is now being enforced, according to a letter the NYPD is sending out to targeted city gun owners.
“It appears you are in possession of a rifle and/or Shotgun (listed below) that has an ammunition feeding device capable of holding more than five (5) rounds of ammunition. Rifles and shotguns capable of holding more than five (5) rounds of ammunition are unlawful to possess in New York City, as per NYC Administrative Code 10-306 (b).”
“You have the following options,” the letter explains.
“1. Immediately surrender your Rifle and/or Shotgun to your local police precinct, and notify this office of the invoice number. The firearm may be sold or permanently removed from the City of New York thereafter.
2. Permanently remove your Rifle and/or Shotgun from New York City and provide the following…Disposition Report/Registration Certificate…Notarized statement of permanent removal…Utility bill or other proof of residency regarding the address where the firearm will be stored outside the City of New York.
3. You may call to discuss the matter if you believe your firearm is in compliance…”
Departing New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is a major gun-control activist, with his coalition recently sponsoring an ad that depicts an Adam Lanza-type character entering a school full of children.
More Airports Set to Install TSA ‘Detention Pods’
Devices that critics liken to cattle grids have biometric capabilities
A new Transportation Security Administration directive that mandates airports provide security for terminal exits is likely to lead to the installation of more ‘detention pods’ which have the capability of subjecting travelers to biometric scans.
“Airports across the country have sued to block a new Transportation Security Administration directive that requires them, starting Jan. 1, to begin guarding exit security doors, as passengers leave flights and head for baggage claims,” reports the Associated Press.
The article notes that in order to comply with the regulation and save hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in staffing, airports may follow the example set by Atlantic City International, which has “installed five cylinder-shaped glass exit portals since 2009.”
These ‘detention pods’, which temporarily hold a traveler inside the portal until a green light and a voice command signals that the person can leave, have been compared to cattle grids by critics who see them as another way in which travelers are treated as prisoners inside the airport. According to Karen De Coster, the pods are a way “to remind you that you are a captive” and are “meant to make you feel like a prisoner who cannot leave.”
The detention pods, which are also in place at Syracuse International Airport, “were designed and approved by TSA,” according to Syracuse Airport Commissioner Christina Callahan.
Travelers have expressed confusion at the necessity of the pods. “I don’t understand those doors,” Cindy Katz, of Jupiter, Fla. told the Boston Globe. “What are they supposed to do? It slows everyone down.” The article also notes how some are concerned about “being scanned somehow while closed inside.”
Mindy Carpenter, who was waiting for friends to arrive at the airport complained, “It just took so long for the four of them to come through.”
The report adds that the detention pods “could be the wave of things to come,” and that their manufacturer, Eagle Security Group, is currently in talks with other airports.
As we previously highlighted, although the devices currently in use do not (at least publicly) utilize any kind of scanning technology, the pods do have biometric and object-detecting capabilities, meaning in the future Americans could face yet another stifling level of security simply to leave the airport.
A video demonstration of the devices shows a user biometrically scanning his fingerprint before he is allowed to leave the containment area.
“The identity of the user is guaranteed via fingerprint, iris or facial recognition scans before they are allowed to complete their passage from non-secure to secure areas. The Eagle ACP (Access Control Portal) with integrated biometrics of your choice is a complete solution,” states the company’s website.

It's about protecting the liberty of Americans from the dangers of concentrated government power. How does the president's unilateral modification of act of Congress affect both the balance of power between the political branches and the liberty interests of the American people?
JONATHAN TURLEY: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. The danger is quite severe. The problem with what the president is doing is that he's not simply posing a danger to the constitutional system. He's becoming the very danger the Constitution was designed to avoid. That is the concentration of power in every single branch.
This Newtonian orbit that the three branches exist in is a delicate one but it is designed to prevent this type of concentration. There is two trends going on which should be of equal concern to all members of Congress. One is that we have had the radical expansion of presidential powers under both President Bush and President Obama. We have what many once called an imperial presidency model of largely unchecked authority. And with that trend we also have the continued rise of this fourth branch. We have agencies that are quite large that issue regulations. The Supreme Court said recently that agencies could actually define their own or interpret their own jurisdiction. President Obama acknowledged on Thursday that he lived with his Kenyan uncle for a brief period in the 1980s while preparing to attend Harvard Law School, contradicting a statement more than a year ago that the White House had no record of the two ever meeting.
Their relationship came into question on Tuesday at the deportation hearing of his uncle, Onyango Obama, in Boston immigration court. His uncle had lived in the United States illegally since the 1970s and revealed in testimony for the first time that his famous nephew had stayed at his Cambridge apartment for about three weeks. At the time, Onyango Obama was here illegally and fighting deportation.
On Thursday, a White House official said the press office had not fully researched the relationship between the president and his uncle before telling the Globe that they had no record of the two meeting. This time, the press office asked the president directly, which they had not done in 2011.
“The president first met Omar Obama when he moved to Cambridge for law school,” said White House spokesman Eric Schultz. “The president did stay with him for a brief period of time until his apartment was ready. After that, they saw each other once every few months, but after law school they fell out of touch. The president has not seen him in 20 years, has not spoken with him in 10.”

The war on terror is an unbelievably huge waste of money. That is documented in this web site that seeks to quiet irrational fears and place in perspective the money spent by governments led by Bush and Obama versus the benefits gotten by the American public.
This site writes in its conclusion
“By invoking terrorism, the government has justified wholesale invasions of other countries, a massive stripping away of our basic liberties, and shifting money to military contractors and away from things that threaten human life on a huge scale.”
What this means is that Bush created and Obama continued a war for their own purposes, which are those of the State they lead. And those purposes are not those of the American public. We Americans do not benefit from expensive invasions of other countries. Indeed, if anything, they incite retaliations against Americans. We do not benefit from losing liberties and living in a police state. We do not benefit from wasting money on the military when we could be spending it on goods that really matter to us.
This is why we can say that the war on terror is a private war of Bush and Obama, or a private war of the State, and not a war of the American public fought to defend itself against terrorism. Americans have paid for the war. They have been told time and again that it is a war being waged for them, but the facts strongly contradict this. If it is true that the U.S. government has made the war on terror for our benefit, then the stupidity and ineptness of the war itself and the management of this war have to be understood. The fact that the costs of the war on terror vastly exceed its benefits is the strongest possible evidence that Bush and Obama did not act in the interests of the American public.
If the war on terror has not been for the interests of American citizens, then how explain it? Who would spend trillions and sacrifice thousands of American lives, not to mention the lives of foreigners, who would destabilize whole countries and huge regions for the sake of saving a trivial number of American lives? Bush and Obama would and they did. It is perfectly conceivable that Bush and Obama would do this for their own private reasons and motivations. It is perfectly conceivable that they could do this because of their power and because they do not bear any of these costs personally.
One can look deeper into these men and their positions in an attempt to find their motivations and thinking. If they thought the war on terror was worth it, they could not have been more wrong. Presidents are not immune to personal vendettas, as against Saddam Hussein. They are not immune to monumental error. They almost invariably support the State, no matter what the costs. They almost invariably over-estimate their power and that of the State. They always are mere mortals whose ignorance in the face of immense complexities is huge. Their power combined with their ignorance makes big errors highly probable. Wanting to exercise power goes with the turf of wanting to be president, becoming president and being president. In defending Obamacare, Obama has just said “If you’ve got good ideas, bring them to me.” He sees himself as the health care executive, when really he is the health care enforcer. He believes that if only all ideas are filtered through his mind for his decision, then the results will be rational and beneficial.
Americans who vote and elect their officials then begin to think that the acts of these officials are also their acts, or that these acts are of the people, for the people and by the people, or that these acts are public acts. Even government officials may believe this. They surely repeat it often enough in order to generate support, but their acts are not driven by public interests. The acts of government officials are their own. They are privately motivated, even if publicly financed. The war on terror has been privately motivated. It is a private war in that sense, like a war fought by some king of old in order to extend his dominion.
Expert Testifies to Congress that Obama’s ‘Ignoring Laws’ Could Lead to Overthrow of Government
During a congressional committee hearing about the constitutional limits imposed on the presidency and the implications of President Barack Obama’s disregard for implementing the Affordable Care Act as written, one expert testified that the consequences of the president’s behavior were potentially grave. He said that the precedent set by Obama could eventually lead to an armed revolt against the federal government.
On Tuesday, Michael Cannon, Cato Institute’s Director of Health Policy Studies, testified before a congressional committee about the dangers of the president’s legal behavior.
“There is one last thing to which the people can resort if the government does not respect the restrains that the constitution places on the government,” Cannon said. “Abraham Lincoln talked about our right to alter our government or our revolutionary right to overthrow it.”
“That is certainly something that no one wants to contemplate,” he continued. “If the people come to believe that the government is no longer constrained by the laws then they will conclude that neither are they.”
“That is a very dangerous sort of thing for the president to do, to wantonly ignore the laws,” Cannon concluded, “to try to impose obligation upon people that the legislature did not approve.”

So much for separation of religion in your children’s schools. While children are being punished for praying over their afternoon meals, a new Common Core Curriculum is teaching your children that President Obama is the Messiah.
A presenter for the Common Core national standards, Sherece Bennett, created a plan to teach this lesson to children. The lesson is based on a book by an author named Nikki Grimes called “Barack Obama: Son of Promise, Child of Hope“.
Kyle Olson looked over the lesson and reported his findings to WND.
Kyle Olson reported the plan on his Education Action Group website, commenting that it casts Obama “in a messianic light. Literally.”In one passage, Olson points out, a young Obama sees beggars and wonders, “Will I ever be able to help people like these?’”“Hope hung deep inside of him,” the book says.Olson quotes another section: “Before dawn each morning, Barry rose – his mother’s voice driving him from dream land. ‘Time for learning English grammar and the Golden Rule. Be honest, be kind, be fair,’ she taught him.”The lesson even uses biblical references to describe Obama, explaining how he changed his name from Barry.“One morning, he slipped on the name he’d been born with. The name of his father, Barack. For the first time in his life, he wore it proudly – like a coat of many colors.”According to Olson, the mentioning of the “coat of many colors is an Obama-inspired Biblical reference in a government school.” The portrayal of Obama as messiah is a “mythical interpretation of Obama,” designed for elementary aged children. ~WND
Olson is right in that aspect. According to bible scholars, pastors, clergy, and theologians, the “coat of many colors” refers to an old testament hero. It was given to the biblical character before he was betrayed and beat up by his brothers, and then he was sold into slavery where he became a leader of his people.
This is not the first time that the liberal media and individuals have tried to make a religion out of President Obama worship, but it is the first time that it has been used to indoctrinate our children this blatantly.
In 2010, Newsweek depicted President Obama as a Hindu Goddess entitled God Of All Things.
Professor Barbara Thompson of Florida A&M writes a blog asking Is Barack Obama The Messiah? She also wrote the book The Gospel According To Apostle Barack. She is completely convinced that Obama is the Second Coming.

In delaying portions of Obamacare, President Barack Obama — the undocumented usurper currently occupying the people’s house — has taken on powers not granted him under the Constitution.
This is very simple to understand, yet most people seem to be turning a blind eye to the fact.
Congress and Congress alone is empowered under the Constitution with writing the laws. The President is charged through his oath to carry them out. Article II, Section 1 reads:
Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States and will to the best of my Ability; preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
Since Obamacare was signed into law, Obama has changed it no fewer than five times. In instances where Congress has proposed making the same the change to Obamacare in order to give it the imprimatur of law, Obama has threatened to veto the very the thing he wants done.
And it’s not just Obamacare that Obama violates. He has also ignored or selectively enforced the Defense of Marriage Act and Federal immigration laws while watching — if not actually sanctioning — his misnamed Department of Justice as it ran roughshod over laws related to firearms trafficking, voting and civil rights.
Additionally, Obama has plundered the Federal Treasury to give multibillion-dollar payouts to his cronies under the guise of stimulus and “green” initiatives. These monies were turned around and plowed back into his campaign fund while the corporations receiving the funds went bankrupt.
Article II, Section 4 says, “The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”
Congress is abdicating its authority by ignoring the serial lawbreaking of the chief executive and not bringing him up on charges. It is complicit in turning the U.S. republic into an authoritarian banana republic under the high-sounding name of democracy.

The Senate and House Intelligence committees believe revelations about the NSA are more damaging to the United States than the ongoing dismantlement of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
“I think terror is up worldwide,” said Senate Intelligence Committee boss Dianne Feinstein. “There are new bombs, very big bombs, trucks being reinforced for those bombs. There are bombs that go through magnetometers. The bomb-maker is still alive. There are more groups than ever. And there is huge malevolence out there.”

Last July, the State Department calculated that 17 Americans had died worldwide as a result of terrorism. In 2011, 155 Americans died as a result of encounters with police officers. But Feinstein is not worried about that. She’s worried that people will petition the government and demand the NSA and the Stasi police state grid be outlawed.

The Chinese air force yesterday scrambled Su-30 and J-11 fighter jets after a dozen American and Japanese military aircraft entered the air defence identification zone (ADIZ) proclaimed by Beijing last weekend in the East China Sea. The incident is the first direct Chinese reaction to a US or Japanese incursion and heightens the danger of a miscalculation leading to a clash and conflict.
Having declared the ADIZ, which overlaps with Japan’s own ADIZ and provocatively includes the disputed Senkaku/Diaoyu islands, the Chinese government has come under pressure from hawkish sections of the ruling elite not to back away. The Obama administration immediately challenged the ADIZ by flying nuclear-capable B-52 bombers into the area on Tuesday without abiding by Chinese rules to provide flight plans, identification and maintain radio contact. Japan and South Korea followed suit on Wednesday, sending military aircraft to the zone.
According to the Chinese Defence Ministry, the Chinese fighters identified two US reconnaissance planes and 10 Japanese military aircraft, including early warning, reconnaissance and fighter aircraft. The statement explained that the Chinese aircraft monitored their American and Japanese counterparts throughout their flights in the ADIZ.
Asked about the Chinese statement, Pentagon spokesman Colonel Steve Warren acknowledged the US flights but provided no details. “The US will continue to partner our allies and will operate in the area as normal,” he said. Japan’s Defence Minister Itsunori Onodera also played down the incident, saying: “We are simply conducting our ordinary warning and surveillance activity like before.”
Far from operating “normally,” the US and Japan have seized upon the Chinese ADIZ to justify their closer military collaboration and build-up in areas adjacent to the Chinese mainland. An American defence official told Bloomberg.com yesterday that the US military was conducting daily flights through the zone without notifying Chinese authorities in advance.
